Stephen Krzyston

Holding membership with the South Carolina and National Associations of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National College for DUI Defense, Stephen Krzyston is an attorney with Cavanaugh & Thickens. At Cavanaugh and Thickens, Stephen Krzyston represents people accused of criminal offenses as well as people injured by the actions or negligence of others. Previously, Stephen Krzyston was an attorney with the Fifth Circuit Public Defender in Richland County. Mr. Krzyston served in this capacity beginning in December of 2012.

During his time as a public defender, Stephen Krzyston represented individuals charged with serious felonies, such as murder, manslaughter, driving under the influence, drug possession, robbery, burglary, and many other very serious offenses. Stephen has significant experience defending complex and noteworthy homicide cases to verdict. In providing representation, Stephen Krzyston often leverages his experience by challenging the admissibility and, when appropriate, credibility of forensic evidence. Mr. Krzyston prides himself on his ability to implement strategic arguments which seek to overcome, or in some cases minimize, a criminal defendant's liability under the law.

Previously, Stephen worked as a law clerk in South Carolina and Virginia and held an internship with the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia in Washington, D.C. Stephen Krzyston completed his Juris Doctorate at the Charleston School of Law and also holds a bachelor's degree in Political Science from the College of Charleston, where he was Commander of the Iota Rho chapter of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. Since graduating, Mr. Krzyston has completed additional legal coursework at the National Forensic College and the National Criminal Defense College.
